Town of Swampscott

Swampscott, MA (13,800 pop.), is seeking a Town Accountant with experience in accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities. This close-knit and vibrant community is located in Essex County, approximately 15 miles north of Boston. Swampscott is led by a five-member Board of Selectmen, a Town Administrator, and has a Representative Town Meeting form of government. The town has a total budget of approximately $68.7 million. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, five or more years of experience in accounting operations and finance, preferably at the administrative or supervisory level; or a comparable combination of education and experience. MMAAA Certification is preferred within three  years of appointment. Candidates should be highly ethical, team oriented, and able to build cooperative and collaborative relationships with appointed/elected officials and town employees. The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package including health and retirement plans; and an annual salary of $80-$100K, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
