Norfolk (11,500 pop.), is seeking an experienced, strategic, and visionary leader with strong communication and collaborative skills to serve as its Town Administrator. This semi-rural community is located in eastern Massachusetts, approximately 20 miles from Boston. It is primarily rural and residential with large lots and open space, with an MBTA commuter rail station located in its Town Center. Routes 115 and 1A serve as the major roads in town and there is easy access to Routes 1, 495, and 95. Norfolk is a full service municipality led by a three-member Board of Selectmen, has an open town meeting form of government, and a total operating budget of approximately $41 million. The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in public administration or related field and at least three to five years of relevant management experience,with demonstrated skills and abilities in municipal finance, economic development and community planning, personnel administration, labor relations, municipal procurement, use of technology, government law, and intergovernmental relations. Candidates should have a proven record of leadership and strategic vision, and be team oriented and able to build cooperative relationships with appointed/elected officials, citizens, and town employees. The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package including health and retirement plans and an annual salary of $150K+/-, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
