Topsfield, MA (6,500 pop.), is seeking an experienced municipal management professional with exceptional leadership, financial management, communication, and team-building skills to serve as its next Town Administrator. This small rural-suburban town is located in the heart of the North Shore, 22 miles from Boston. Topsfield is known for its open spaces, pristine rivers, and rolling hills. Topsfield is led by a five-member Board of Selectmen, has an Open Town Meeting form of government, an AAA rating, and a total operating budget of approximately $28.9 mil. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business management, or a related field (master’s degree preferred). A minimum of five years of experience, with three years in Massachusetts preferred, in managing a business with greater than 100 employees or a town of 5,000 or more inhabitants. Applicants should have demonstrated skills and abilities in finance, human resources administration, personnel management, economic and community development, project management, and communications. Candidates should have a proven record of leadership and team building, be data-driven, and understand the importance of implementing up-to-date processes and protocols. The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package including health and retirement plans and an annual salary of $140K+/-, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
