The town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the Full Time position of Town Clerk. The Town Clerk performs technical, supervisory and administrative work in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and town by-laws; responsible for planning, organizing and implementing all functions and services of the Town Clerk’s office, including those related to legislation, elections, information, public records, voter registration, census and departmental operations. Identifies and recommends changes in laws; administers oaths of office, attests to official signatures.
Ability to recognize town-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment. Financial management skills, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and to establish positive public relations for the town and the public. In-depth knowledge of town and state government and local, state and federal statues, by-laws and regulations regarding voter registration, elections and other department functions.
Strong managerial skills; ability to manage multiple project assignments under occasional time constraints; ability to interact tactfully and effectively with department managers, residents, state officials and citizen boards and committees. Excellent organizational skills. Proficient in the use of computer programs and applications to include Google Suites and Microsoft Suites, email and the internet. Advanced spreadsheet skills required. Ability to learn other departmental related software programs.
Requires knowledge of local and state government laws and regulations, and office management, equivalent to two years of college with a course of study in public administration, and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience. Certification by Massachusetts Town Clerks’ Association.
Full-day Election Day attendance required; evening attendance at meetings may be required.
