Working under the general direction of the DPW Superintendent, the Town Engineer is responsible for professional engineering work relating to managing and coordinating major town infrastructure improvement projects.  Work includes scheduling projects, reviewing plans and designs, overseeing construction and contract compliance, managing project budgets, and providing technical assistance to town departments as needed. Employee is required to work outside of normal business hours as necessary to accomplish the position’s functions. Professional Engineer license required.  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related field required, master’s degree preferred. Five to seven years of full-time planning and civil engineering, design, construction, and supervisory experience on a variety of engineering projects, especially those involving public works construction under MGL Chapter 30 and 39M and MGL Chapter 149; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
