The town of Longmeadow seeks a qualified Town Engineer. Reports to Director of Public Works. Responsible for administrative, professional, and technical engineering work in planning, organizing and directing the operations and activities of the Engineering Division in the execution of professional engineering services. Develops plans and specifications for town maintenance and improvement projects; reviews work performed by consulting engineers; reviews subdivision and site plans, field surveying. Serves as a project manager for various construction projects including: facilities and grounds, water system, sewer system, streets and sidewalks, right of way, storm drainage and transfer station; oversees town’s Environmental Management System, including reporting and on-going compliance. Prepare bid specifications for Chapter 90 projects, the annual engineering division budget, and assists with DPW capital project budget, prepares RFP’s. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, MA Professional Engineering license required, plus five years progressively responsible employment in civil engineering in the municipal sector including three years of project management and supervisory experience or equivalent or other combination of other education and experience. Valid motor vehicle license. Ability to manage multiple project assignments under occasional adverse weather and operating conditions. Ability to use Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access, as well as thorough working knowledge of computerized civil engineering applications such as AutoCAD and associated civil engineering modules for roadway design, drainage design, water supply design, and sanitary sewer design. Have familiarity with Geographical Information System software and databases. Ability to meet project timetables and manage expenses. Must have good interpersonal and communications skills, ability to work well with public, employees and other town departments; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
