Ipswich, MA (14,000 pop.), is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader, with strong communication skills and an ability to plan for the future, to serve as Town Manager. Ipswich is a thriving coastal community that has been very well managed in recent years and is poised for continued success. This historic and primarily residential community is located 28 miles northeast of Boston. The town has an AAA rating and stable finances. Ipswich is led by a five-member Select Board with open Town Meeting and has an FY23 budget of $54M. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in public administration, business management, or a related field and experience as a town manager/administrator, assistant town manager/administrator, or equivalent education and experience. Applicants should be proactive and strategic thinkers with strong skills in strategic planning, financial management, personnel management, community planning, project management, and collective bargaining. Candidates must embrace climate resiliency efforts and work to ensure a welcoming environment. Applicants should actively support transparency in government and be a team builder.
