Concord (17,000 pop.), is seeking an individual with exceptional leadership skills, a collaborative team oriented management style and a commitment to excellence to serve as its next Town Manager. Over 240 years ago the residents of Concord played a pivotal role at the birth of the American Revolution. Today its residents still honor their historic tradition with grass roots democracy and a revolutionary spirit. This community has the charm of a small New England agricultural town, yet located along the Rte. 2 corridor, just 16 miles from Boston. The town is governed by a five-member select board, Town Manager and Open Town Meeting form of government. With the assistance of a Deputy Town Manager and a Senior Management Team, the Town Manager oversees a full service municipality, including an Electric Light Department, with a General Fund operating budget of $107.2M and an Enterprise Fund operating budget of $40M. The stability of this community is evidenced by its AAA bond rating, vibrant business districts and twenty eight year tenure of its retiring Town Manager. The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field (master’s preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated senior leadership experience. A salary in the low $200k range, dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, plus an excellent benefit package is commensurate with this community’s expectation for continued excellence in town management.
