Truro, Mass. (2,000 pop. soaring up to 20,000 in summer), is seeking a seasoned municipal management professional with strong communication, finance, and interpersonal skills, to serve as its next Town Manager.  This charming and historic community is located just south and east of the tip of the Cape Cod peninsula in Massachusetts. The position offers the unique opportunity to enjoy the benefits of managing a small town while simultaneously working on significant global challenges, such as climate change and attainable housing. The need for diversified housing options has reached a crisis level. Truro is led by a five-member, non-partisan Select Board, has an open town meeting form of government, and a total operating budget of approximately $20.08 mil. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, or related field (master’s degree preferred) and at least five years of experience in a compensated managerial municipal position, with experience as a town manager, assistant town manager or head of a major municipal department preferred. Candidates having experience with  housing challenges, financial management, environmental issues, communications, and economic and community development are preferred. Candidates should have a proven record of leadership and strategic vision, and be innovative, team oriented, and able to build strong relationships with appointed/elected officials, citizens, and town employees. The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package including health and retirement plans and an annual salary of $145K+/-, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
