The town of Durham, Maine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Manager. With a rural character but near population centers, Durham is changing to a Town Manager form of government. Durham is an attractive community with a population of 4,000; it has a Town Meeting/Selectboard/Town Manager form of government, and has a municipal budget of $3.75 million with 11 FT and 70 PT or per diem municipal employees.
The Board is seeking an individual with strong budget and financial management skills, human resource management experience, experience with growth management and land use issues, knowledge of public works and solid waste operations, and experience with general municipal office operations and software. Candidates should also possess excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills, and have demonstrated leadership ability. Municipal management experience is preferred, but candidates with comparable work experience are encouraged to apply. Salary range of $65 – $80,000, negotiable based on experience and training.
