Assistant Town Accountant
The town of Blackstone seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Town Accountant. This is a full-time 33.5 hours per week position with an excellent benefit package. Hiring range $22.79-29.39 dependent on qualifications, experience, education, and current certifications.
The Assistant Town Accountant reports to the Town Accountant and performs general accounting and administration functions in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, town policies, and bylaws. Duties include but are not limited to preparation of the biweekly vendor and payroll warrants, weekly and monthly reports to departments, and monthly reconciliations. Make journal entries under the direction of the Town Accountant to balance and close monthly books in general ledger, revenue, and expense accounts. Assists with vendor maintenance and 1099 reporting functions. All other duties as required.
Minimum qualifications: A candidate for this position should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, plus three years of related municipal experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Hours: Mon, Wed, & Thurs 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Tues 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Fri 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
