The town of Plymouth seeks qualified applicants for the position of WASTEWATER SUPERINTENDENT for the Department of Public Works, Sewer Division.

Responsible for the proper oversight and safe operation in conjunction with the town’s Contract Operator of Plymouth’s Wastewater Treatment Plan (WWTP) 3 M.G.D. sequential batch reactor (SBR), and collection system, including uninterrupted conveyance, treatment, and collections in accordance with all regulatory standards. Develops work programs, safety protocols and policies in compliance with OSHA standards with the Contract Operator for Division personnel; prepares and administers operating and capital budgets; prepares bid specifications for equipment and infrastructure needs. Reviews and develops design documents and bid specifications; determines project viability, reviews and approves private development projects, and communicates goals and objectives to others as needed. Develops budgets, schedules and cost estimates for related projects. Performs similar or related work, as required, or as situation dictates.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; five to 10 years of municipal experience with at least five years at the supervisory level; a proven track record in municipal project management in sewer operations/collections, technical competence, administration, and personnel management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements include Massachusetts Grade VII Wastewater License, Sewer Collection System Certification, and a Massachusetts Class D Driver’s license.
