Water Department Chief Operator
The town of Essex, Department of Public Works seeks a qualified applicant to fill the position of Department of Public Works Water Department Chief Operator.
A management position that requires supervisory and technical work of a responsible nature. The Chief Operator is expected to work with the DPW Superintendent in the operation and control of a complex water treatment plant, and a water distribution system. The Chief Operator directs and assists engineers, operators, technicians, contractors, and maintenance personnel and, maintains regulatory compliance. The Chief Operator utilizes data collected by all personnel and other indicators for proper operation of the Water Divisions. The Chief Operator must be familiar with the duties and qualifications of all positions in the Water Division.
At least five years of experience in the operation of water treatment plants, distribution and/or collection systems. Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office, data base knowledge, familiarity with GIS, and familiarity with meter reading and billing systems. Budgetary development skills. Planning skills. Possession of a 3T Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License, a 2D Water Distribution System License.
A pre-employment physical and drug test is required.
Salary Range: $81,500 – $91,500
