Water Repairperson

Town of Kingston employment site

Water Repairperson – Manual work in the operation, repair and maintenance of the town’s water distribution system and appurtenances; also, manual work in the repair and maintenance of pumps and treatment facilities; all other related work as required.

FY25 rate range: $23.51-$30.56/hr.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., additional time and hours as needed.

Special requirements:

• Massachusetts Grade I distribution license (preferred – with ability to obtain in the first 12 months of employment)
• Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator’s license (Class B Preferred)
• Massachusetts hoisting license, class heavy equipment – HE2B

Education and experience: high school diploma; one year of responsible experience in water distribution and treatment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, ability and skill:

Knowledge: working knowledge of the general design and operation of a water system. Working knowledge of government and industry standards governing water quality and water system standards.

Ability: ability to read, understand and interpret technical documents such as specifications, blueprints, and schematics. Ability to install and make repairs to meters distribution system and its appurtenances.

Skill: skill in the use of hand tools and equipment.
