The city of Newburyport DPS Water Division provides public water to the city, portions of Newbury and wholesale to West Newbury, serving a population of approximately 21,500. The water treatment plant operates 24 hours per day/365 days per year.
This position is responsible for the technical and supervisory work directing the municipal water treatment plant, pumping stations, wells and related facilities.
Requires a BS in engineering, applied sciences or related field; full Grade 3T Mass water treatment license or higher plus a minimum of five years experience working at a conventional water treatment facility, two years in a management/supervisory capacity.
Requires knowledge of drinking water regulations pertaining to surface water treatment; strong communication skills; knowledge and experience with computer applications; problem solving skills; ability to read blueprints, schematics and maintenance manuals; organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
This is a full-time salaried position in the Teamsters Union. Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. with some weekends and availability to respond to emergencies. Pay is $93,636 – $98,636. Benefits in accordance with union contract.
