The town of Winchester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fire Chief. This role is responsible for the administration, organization, and leadership of the Winchester Fire Department. The Fire Chief reports directly to the Town Manager and oversees a Fire Department staffed with five Fire Captains, eight Fire Lieutenants, 36 Firefighters, and a full-time administrative secretary. There are two fire stations staffed and the department operates an ALS ambulance service. This position also serves as the Emergency Management Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience as a Chief Officer or Shift Commander. Education equivalent to an associate’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in fire services, business management, public administration or related field, valid driver’s license, familiarity with Massachusetts statutes and codes related to fire safety, and familiarity with national fire and building codes and standards. Candidates should have prior experience managing emergency management operations.
The salary range for this position is $99,535-$141,052, depending on education and certifications.
