The town of Brookline is seeking an administrative professional to work in support of the zoning functions of the Planning and Community Development and Building Departments. Will provide staff support to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) to ensure that the ZBA meets statutory timelines and fulfills responsibilities under MGL Chapters 40A and 40B and the ZBA’s regulations. Responsible for scheduling, posting and noticing ZBA meetings; providing members with relevant material in advance of the meeting or hearing; attending ZBA night meetings, taking and posting minutes, and assisting in the preparation of ZBA decisions under the oversight of the Chief Building Inspector. Reviews ZBA applications to ensure they are complete. Associate’s degree in planning or related discipline preferred, plus two years of experience in one of the following professional areas: land use, planning, development, construction, zoning or an equivalent combination. Ability to take and transcribe meeting minutes (with the assistance of a laptop and/or recorder); work independently or interdisciplinary or interdepartmental team; solid written and oral communication skills; diplomacy and discretion; strong organizational skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office software and a willingness to learn other database software. Starting salary $34.27/hr plus generous benefits.
