DESCRIPTION:The MMA will host a webinar on Jan. 14 with the Commonwealth’s Accessibility Center for Consulting\, Education and Support Services (ACCESS) team covering what municipalities need to know regarding digital accessibility.\\n\\n\\n\\nIn April 2024\, the U.S. Department of Justice updated its regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act\, specifically for state and local governments. The requirements set Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard to ensure that all digital content is accessible to all community members.\\n\\n\\n\\nMunicipalities with more than 50\,000 residents must comply with version 2.1 Level AA by April 24\, 2026\, and smaller municipalities must comply by April 26\, 2027.\\n\\n\\n\\nThis webinar will detail what local leaders need to know to prepare for the upcoming deadline\, including expectations for different types of digital content\, strategies for approaching the rule changes\, and resources to facilitate the accessibility journey.\\n\\n\\n\\nAdam Gojanovich\, accessibility training coordinator with the ACCESS team\, will share resources that municipalities can use to prepare for their compliance date\, and will answer questions from webinar participants.\\n\\n\\n\\nOnline registration is available for the 75-minute webinar\, which will begin at noon. SUMMARY:Introduction to LITIX Insights: An Interactive Salary Data Tool
DESCRIPTION:Join ArxED to learn about its LITIX Insights data platform\, which provides municipal leaders with important insights into labor negotiations\, salary benchmarking\, and proactive budget planning.\\n\\n\\n\\nLITIX has already been introduced to schools across the Commonwealth\, and was competitively chosen by the Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources association as a comprehensive salary data tool for municipalities. (The MMHR Benchmark salary tool has been discontinued.) The MMA has signed a memorandum of agreement with ArxEd to assist in notifying communities about this new product\, which will be made available for purchase and rolled out in three cohorts. The LITIX data platform has already been introduced to a first cohort of 14 communities\, which have agreed to provide feedback to the product developers. ArxEd is currently recruiting a second\, limited cohort of 36 communities\, and expects to fully roll out the tool to all interested communities by the end of 2025.

DESCRIPTION:On May 12\, the MMA will host a webinar on leveraging arts and culture activities to aid in substance use prevention and recovery.\\n\\n\\n\\nRepresentatives from the town of Franklin\, the Mass Cultural Council\, and Art Pharmacy will discuss how communities can use their opioid settlement funds for prevention and recovery services through arts-based “social prescribing” — a practice through which health care providers and other trusted community members refer individuals to non-clinical community supports.\\n\\n\\n\\nMass Cultural Council Executive Director Michael Bobbitt will discuss the MCC’s pioneering role in social prescribing in the United States\, established through a partnership with Art Pharmacy\, an Atlanta-based organization that is also working with partners in several other states.\\n\\n\\n\\nArt Pharmacy will also present its findings on the therapeutic benefits of non-clinical\, community-based activities.\\n\\n\\n\\nMMA President and Franklin Town Administrator Jamie Hellen and Franklin Deputy Town Administrator Amy Frigulietti will share how their town became the first municipality in Massachusetts to leverage social prescribing to support substance use prevention and recovery\, and how to initiate a similar effort.\\n\\n\\n\\nOnline registration is available for this 75-minute webinar\, which will begin at noon.\\n\\n\\n\\nOnly MMA members may register for the webinar. SUMMARY:Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources Fall Conference
DESCRIPTION:Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources will hold its annual Fall Conference on Thursday and Friday\, Sept. 18 and 19\, in Springfield.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe conference will open with a keynote workshop: “Recruitment Strategies for Greater Diversity.” Led by Eden-Reneé Hayes\, CEO of Pluralism Solutions\, the session will highlight how diversity\, equity and inclusion foster genuine relationships and inspire sustainable growth.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe afternoon will feature a roundtable discussion on recruitment best practices\, moderated by Pittsfield Human Resources Director Michael Taylor. DESCRIPTION:The Massachusetts Municipal Management Association and Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources will hold their annual joint meeting on April 10 at Lake Pearl in Wrentham.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe agenda will feature a “Psychological First Aid” training led by Liisa Jackson\, director-coordinator with the Medical Reserve Corps. Participants will learn how to provide initial emotional support to individuals experiencing distress after a traumatic event or a difficult situation.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe training will cover key action steps in psychological first aid\, including:\\n\\n• Making contact and engaging with individuals experiencing distress\\n\\n• Establishing a safe and comfortable environment\\n\\n• Stabilizing and gathering information on stressful situations\\n\\n• Providing practical assistance and support resources to affected individuals\\n\\n• Managing personal stress when providing psychological first aid\\n\\n\\n\\nTechniques for effective communication skills\, self care\, and reducing stress will be demonstrated and compared through didactic information\, case scenarios\, group discussion and interactive practice sessions.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe meeting is open to all MMMA and MMHR members.
