Selectmen will discuss their role in municipal building projects during the Massachusetts Selectmen’s Association Annual Business Meeting on Jan. 23.

The meeting will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. during the MMA Annual Meeting & Trade Show in Boston.

The panel will include Pat Goddard, facilities director for the town of Lexington, Brian O’Donnell, labor relations director for Associated General Contractors, and Daniel Pallotta, project manager for P3.

Panelists will discuss the choices and challenges local officials face when deciding to take on a building project in their community. The discussion will include a description of the building process, including creating a building committee, choosing an owner’s project manager (OPM) and understanding the procurement process. Selectmen will gain an understanding of the building process from conception to construction, and how to take a leadership role in making a positive contribution to your municipality.

The MSA Annual Business Meeting will include a year-in-review presentation by MSA President and Norwell Selectman Ellen Allen, as well as the election of MSA officers for 2016.
