Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
Coastal communities, tribes, and nonprofits are invited to apply for the Living Shoreline Planning Series, which offers free training and technical assistance to help coastal stakeholders develop a conceptual design for projects designed to reduce erosion and flooding while increasing coastal resilience through stabilizing native vegetation and other natural elements.
The program, offered by the Northeast Regional Ocean Council and the Nature Conservancy, is intended to build capacity for designing, permitting, and implementing “living shoreline” projects in New England and ensuring that communities and organizations are positioned to secure funding to advance projects beyond the conceptual design phase.
There is no match required from towns to participate.
A recording of an informational webinar hosted by staff from the Northeast Regional Ocean Council and the Nature Conservancy, along with Q&As from the webinar, are available online.
Applications for the Living Shoreline Program are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 3, and award recipients will be notified later in March.
The program is anticipated to start in April and run through September. Interested applicants may email Dan Goulart, coastal project manager with the Nature Conservancy, at [email protected].
