More than 250 local officials and legislators joined MMA staff to discuss pressing issues facing Massachusetts cities and towns during the recently completed fall series of MMA Legislative Breakfast Meetings.

Meetings were held on Oct. 2 in Dalton, Holden and Rehoboth, Oct. 9 in Avon, Leverett and Wenham, and Oct. 16 in Chicopee, Concord and Marion.

The meetings provide an opportunity for municipal officials to have conversations with their legislators about important policy issues and network with other local officials.

MMA staff gave updates on state finances, local aid and several key legislative issues. Legislators and local officials brought up a wide variety of state and local issues for discussion, including Chapter 90 and transportation funding, school finance, public records legislation, opioid addiction, and energy and net metering.

The October meetings were the MMA’s 17th round of Legislative Breakfasts, which have been held on Friday mornings in nine locations across the Commonwealth twice per year – in the spring and fall – since 2007. So far, 156 meetings have been hosted by 154 communities.
