Job Description
Works under the general direction of the Superintendent of Buildings and in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws and local ordinances; reviews all unusual problems or situations with the Superintendent of Buildings prior to taking any required action.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs inspection and administrative work in connection with the enforcement and interpretation of applicable codes relating to electrical wiring and systems
- Conducts inspections of wiring for heat, light, power, fire alarms, burglar alarms, telecommunications, computer and cable TV in all private and public buildings in the city
- Conducts inspections in housing units, multiple occupancy dwellings, industrial and commercial structures
- Responds to complaints and takes appropriate measures to correct unsafe or unlawful conditions
- Investigates structure fires for electrical cause and origin
- Provides information and technical assistance to contractors, homeowners, electricians, and other interested parties regarding proper design and installation of electrical work.
SALARY: $73,520 – $90,420 / annually
