Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Planning and Community Development, the Assistant Planning Director serves as point person for stormwater management permitting, Stormwater Management Permit compliance, transportation initiatives, and special projects including research, data collection, application review, and permitting for proposed land uses, and coordinates the administrative elements of various town appointed boards and committees. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing permitting decisions; conducting site visits to verify compliance with permit conditions; managing and assisting in long range planning, environmental initiatives, and special projects of the department; communicating with consultants and researching relevant bylaws, rules, regulations, and procedures in place in other municipalities and at the state level in preparation for updating town procedures and bylaws.

Requires education/experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in related field; plus two year’s related experience or training, working knowledge of stormwater management and/or local/regional transportation practices in local government and understanding of municipal land use statutes and planning functions. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and a valid driver’s license.

Anticipated hiring range: $75,536-$80,000 (full range to $99,349); 35 hours per week. Starting salary based on qualifications.
