The city of Fitchburg is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Wastewater Operator. This role is responsible for overseeing shift operations at a complex, advanced wastewater treatment facility, including directing and assisting operational staff to ensure effective treatment processes, achievement of target performance results, and full regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate must possess a valid Massachusetts Grade VI Wastewater Operator license and have at least five years of full-time experience in wastewater treatment operations within a municipal or industrial facility of similar size and complexity. This experience must include a minimum of two years in a supervisory or lead operational role. Comparable experience in facilities with similar treatment processes will also be considered. Relevant education may be substituted for experience, with up to four years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) study in environmental engineering or a related field accepted on a year-for-year basis. This is a union position with a salary range of $34.08 to $45.91 per hour.
