Food and Milk Inspector

Job Description

The city of Fitchburg is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Food and Milk Inspector. Under the direction of the Director of Public Health and/or designee, this position will perform inspections, serve notice of violations, investigate complaints and enforce federal, state and local Codes pertaining to food and beverages. The Inspector must also be able to perform additional inspectional duties as directed. The ideal candidate will possess bachelor’s degree in public health or related field; Minimum of three years full-time (or part time equivalent) of technical and/or professional experience involving the inspection and enforcement of sanitary codes/health codes pertaining to food handling and processing. Must be Registered Sanitarian and Certified Health Officer (preferred) or RS and CHO eligible or equivalent. This is a union position with a salary range of $73,892 to $86,632 per year.
