Job Description

The city of Woburn Engineering Department seeks qualified candidates for Civil Engineer. Based off experience and qualifications the candidate will be a Civil Engineer I or II.

The Civil Engineer I/II position for the city of Woburn assists the City Engineer in carrying out the overall responsibilities of the Engineering Department. Performs engineering work under the direction of the City Engineer in the fields of  environmental, water, sewer, transportation, and other disciplines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Under the direction of the City Engineer the Civil Engineer I/II:

• Maintains regular contact with consulting engineers, construction project engineers, and the general public regarding division activities and services.
• Provides project management for the construction of municipal public works projects.
• Coordinates the preparation of, or develops, engineering plans and specifications
• Work with city departments such as planning to procure, evaluate and execute grants and funding opportunities.
• Reviews private project development plans for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards, adequacy of applications for permits and compliance with approved plans.
• Maintains the engineering library and infrastructure records.
