Brookline DPW’s Parks and Open Spaces Division seeks an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the daily maintenance and long-term care of the town’s parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, cemeteries, school grounds, nature sanctuaries, and public landscapes. Responsible for coordinating staff, contractors, budgeting, planning, and public engagement to ensure safe, high‑quality, and sustainable public spaces for the community.
Key duties include implementing a comprehensive maintenance and asset‑management plan; overseeing turf, playground, irrigation, drainage, and infrastructure projects; ensuring safety and regulatory compliance; and maintaining accurate work order and asset data. Additional responsibilities include assisting with operating and capital budgets, developing standard operating procedures, and responding to public inquiries. The position also plays a key role in emergency response, including snow and ice operations.
Qualifications
Candidates should have five to seven years of progressive experience in parks or facility management, at least three years of supervisory experience, and strong knowledge of municipal operations. A valid driver’s license is required; CDL, hoisting, pesticide, or arborist credentials are preferred.
Salary range is $95,625–$100,823 with excellent benefits.
