Veterans’ Service Officer – Town of Saugus

The town of Saugus is seeking a full-time Veterans’ Service Officer (VSO) to administer veterans’ programs and provide comprehensive services to veterans, their dependents, and survivors. Responsibilities include administering Chapter 115 benefits; assisting with VA claims, healthcare, pensions, and other federal and state benefits; maintaining confidential records; preparing departmental budgets and reports; coordinating veterans’ programs and memorial activities; and serving as a liaison with the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and community partners.

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of administrative or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An honorably discharged veteran (DD214 required) is required. Chapter 115 certification or the ability to obtain required state certification is expected. Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills are essential.

Salary: $75,000–$85,000, depending on qualifications, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
