Animal Control Officer

Job Description

The town of Reading is seeking an Animal Control Officer in the Police department.

Expected Hiring Range: $31.93 – $33.87 per hour (plus on-call stipend)

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
• Minimum of six months to one year of progressively responsible experience working with animals; or
• Any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment;
• Massachusetts Animal Control Officer Certification;
• State Animal Inspector
• Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray

Work Hours
Flexible schedule Monday-Friday, 32 hours per week. On-call during off-hours.
