Assistant Assessor
The Westford Board of Assessors seeks a full-time Assistant Assessor that would be responsible for assisting in the analytical, administrative, technical and field support to the Chief Assessor in the appraising and classification of all town properties. Position assists with the annual in-house revaluation and certification programs required by the Department of Revenue. Assists in the full analysis of all residential properties, fully responsible for analyzing and utilizing MLS (Multiple Listing Service) for town-wide market analysis. The Assistant Assessor is the residential specialist for the town assisting in setting annual residential values for certification with the DOR. Assists in all aspects of the office functions including processing motor vehicle excise abatements, abutters lists, and acts as a liaison and source of information for internal departments as well as the public. Candidate works under the administrative direction and performance evaluation of the Chief Assessor and operates under the policy direction of the Board of Assessors. The candidate should have three to five years experience and training in the real estate assessing/appraisal field and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor designation preferred. Bachelors’ degree is preferred.
