The town of Chatham is currently accepting applications for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator in the Transfer Station Division of the DPW.
The Heavy Equipment Operator performs skilled and unskilled labor including operation of heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance and repair to equipment, hauling and preparing Transfer Station materials for shipping through outside contractors and functions associated with daily operations of the Transfer Station.
Position participates in snow and ice operations performing snow removal; plowing and sanding as assigned. Callbacks and Overtime for weather related and state of emergency operations are mandatory.
Duties require frequent and extended periods of outside work, subject to all weather conditions and extremes. Physical requirements include continuous walking, standing, climbing and regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion. Must be able to lift 100lbs.

40 hours per week, including a regular weekend shift, with overtime potential. Starting hourly wage is $29.36 – $31.77 ($2,348.80 – $2,541.60 biweekly; depending on qualifications and experience.
