POSITION: Assistant Town Engineer

GRADE: Grade 10: $90,072.06 – $117.148.20

DEPARTMENT: Engineering/Department of Public Works

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Town Engineer assists in the management and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects from planning through completion. Key responsibilities include coordinating design and construction activities, overseeing project schedules and budgets, reviewing engineering plans and specifications, and ensuring work complies with applicable codes and town standards. The position works closely with consultants, contractors, and multiple town departments to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and within scope. The Assistant Town Engineer Oversees the office function of providing engineering information and general assistance to the general public.

Performs administrative functions including preparation of petitions, grant applications, periodic reports to state and federal agencies; inflow/infiltration study.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering; five years of design and/or field construction experience in public works projects, preferably in the municipal field; or an equivalent combination of the required education and experience.

Special Requirements

Registered as an Engineer in Training in Massachusetts, preferred, and Valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license
