Clean energy regulations, with a focus on the climate law enacted in November 2024, will be the main topic of a Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association half-day program on Aug. 6 in Sturbridge.
The climate law makes sweeping changes to state law governing the siting and approval of clean energy facilities — such as solar, wind, battery storage, and transmission lines — and divides responsibility for large and small clean energy facilities between the state and local governments.
This program will offer the latest on state regulations and guidance, with speakers including state officials and municipal attorneys. Speakers will address questions such as: What is the municipal role in either large or small clean energy projects?, and What are the best strategies for both? It will also provide practical pointers, and delve into everything municipal attorneys and officials need to know.
A bonus panel will present an overview of recently enacted important changes to Chapter 40A, the state’s Zoning Act.
The meeting will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Publick House.
