Settled in 1769 by Nicholas Clark and brothers Aaron, Stephen and Silas from Cumberland, Rhode Island, Clarksburg was incorporated in 1798. Sitting on the Vermont border and 7 miles east of the New York state line, it is home to the world-famous Hairpin Turn on the Mohawk Trail.
