The Healey-Driscoll administration on July 30 announced the availability of grant funding for important dredging projects that improve navigational safety, strengthen working waterfronts, and support the state’s maritime economy.
The application deadline is Sept. 17.
The grants, administered by the Seaport Economic Council, will provide funding for shovel-ready coastal dredging construction projects and regional dredging equipment purchases.
Eligible applicants include Massachusetts coastal communities, public harbor commissions, county commissions, and regional public entities representing two or more coastal municipalities.
Funding amounts will be between $100,000 and $1 million.
The grant program is part of the administration’s ongoing support for and investment in coastal community resilience, which includes reorganization of the Seaport Economic Council along with a $100 million reauthorization, and the 2025 Resilient Coasts report, which outlined a comprehensive statewide strategy to help coastal communities protect residents, strengthen local infrastructure, and safeguard the state’s natural resources.
