A bill outlining the terms for state borrowing that will fund the transportation bond law signed in June moved to the House Committee on Ways and Means on July 2.

The bond law secures $300 million for the Chapter 90 local road and bridge program for fiscal 2027, along with $1.1 billion allocated to several important infrastructure initiatives:

• $500 million for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Bridge and Pavement Lifecycle Asset Management Programs
• $200 million for transportation improvements that support expanded housing development
• $200 million for a new Parkway Resilience Improvement and Safety Modernization (PRISM) investment program
• $200 million for the MBTA’s Rail Reliability Program

The associated bond terms bill (H. 5519) is required in order for municipalities to receive reimbursements for their Chapter 90-eligible projects.
