The town of Leicester is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Collector. Working under the direction of the Treasurer/Collector, the position’s primary focus is collection of taxes, interest and fees associated with real estate, personal property and excise collection. This position will also be responsible for various duties as assigned, but not limited to, payroll and benefits administration, reconciliation of Treasurer’s cash, processing refunds, and other general office duties.
Qualifications: Minimum of an associate’s degree or journeyman’s level of trade knowledge; a minimum of three to five years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must qualify for bonding, possess strong computer and organizational skills and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
Vadar and/or Harpers experience preferred. The town of Leicester offers competitive benefits, including a four-day workweek. The hourly rate range for the position per the town’s FY26 Compensation plan is $23.39 to $29.64 per hour depending on experience and available appropriation. This is an immediate opening.
