The town of Plymouth seeks qualified applicants for the position of ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES for the department of Health and Human Services which consists of: Public Health, Veteran’s Services, Elder Affairs, Disabilities Commission, Public Library, Youth Commission, No Place for Hate Committee, and Recreation.
Supports the Commissioner’s leadership and oversight in all areas of health and human services, including developing and planning services to meet the needs of the community; supports long-range planning related to the programs and operations to implement those services. Acts as the town ADA Coordinator with Commissioner assistance as needed. Assists the Commissioner in the daily management responsibility and general supervision over the functions, programs, services, operations, activities and facilities of the department and its divisions; develops and maintains internal and external databases/systems for the department. Advises on evidence-based practices for health and safety in the community. Analyzes local, national, global trends that impact both the community and the department. Utilizes statistical tools and engages in data-driven decision-making, and solicits feedback from key data partners to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends that help direct the mission of the department. Leads in the identification, development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Crafts proposals and bid responses that effectively convey the department’s strengths and qualifications to potential funders. Coordinates data tracking, monitoring, communication with funders, and all other regulatory requirements of grantees. Assists in monitoring and disseminating information relating to state and federal policies, statutes, and laws relating to issues in any of the divisions. Assists in implementation and advocacy for programs on a regional and statewide basis for public health, social service, and human service needs. Master’s degree in public health, human services, social work, public administration or a related field, five years of increasingly responsible experience in program management, including financial and personnel administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Health Officer by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Health Officers preferred, Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
Salary Range: $103,382.76 – $130,321.36, 37.5 hours/week. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt.
