The town of Sharon is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Town Accountant to support the Town Accountant/Finance Director in managing the town’s financial operations.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week; Monday – Wednesday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) position with half-day Fridays year round.
This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient daily financial operations of the department, including processing payroll, invoices, accounts payable, and maintaining accurate postings to the General Ledger. Maintains the chart of accounts, reviews pay rates, and works with departments to ensure accurate budgets. Communicates with vendors, prepares financial reports, analyzes and reconciles accounts, supports audits, and performs related duties as assigned.
Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and minimum of two years of professional accounting or related experience; Bachelor’s degree desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Payroll, accounts payable and MUNIS software experience preferred.

The starting salary range is $66,015 – $68,718 DOQ, with generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts and retirement plans. Range adjusts to $67,830 – $70,607 on July 1.
