Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
The town of Weymouth is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Town Accountant. Works under the general direction of the Town Accountant and in accordance with applicable Massachusetts General Laws, town policies, town bylaws, and relevant state, federal, and local regulations and standards. Prepares formal entries, audits invoices, and reviews warrants for accuracy; makes necessary corrections and authorizes checks to be issued; assists clerical staff with data entry if necessary. Codes cash received from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; reviews, files, and corrects Payment to Treasurer forms sent to Accounting Department. Completes annual Fixed Assets reporting for depreciation expense purposes. Supervises and maintains attendance records for Accounting Department employees. Maintains log of copy machine used by all town departments and calculates applicable charges. Provides information to state and federal agencies regarding the payment to vendors for 1099 miscellaneous reporting and other state and federal reports. Analyzes department budget activity; investigate and explain variances. Reviews monthly YTD budget reports for accuracy
