EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Treasurer/Collector, the Assistant Town Treasurer performs professional and administrative duties to support the operations of the Treasurer/Collector’s Office. Responsibilities include managing receipts and deposits, assisting with cash management and account reconciliation, maintaining trust, bond, tax title, and foreclosure accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The position serves in a semi-supervisory role, assumes the Treasurer’s responsibilities during absences or vacancies, works closely with municipal departments and residents, and performs related duties to support the efficient operation of the office.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. High school degree plus two year degree or certificate in accounting or finance or other related field, and three to five years of experience in municipal finance working with cash flow and handling customer service or equivalent combination of education, training and experience are required. Valid driver’s license is required. MA Collector/Treasurers’ Association certification as MA Certified Treasurer highly preferred.
COMPENSATION: Grade 7, $32.14 -$42.15 per hour DOQ (effective July 1), Non-union position, 35 hours per week. Full benefits eligible, Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m, one hour of unpaid lunch.
