The town of Mattapoisett seeks a Chief Operator to operate and maintain its 6MGD Filtration Facility for the The Mattapoisett River Valley Water District (M.R.V.W.D.).
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Massachusetts driver’s license, a Grade 2T Drinking Water Operator certification, and be in good physical condition.
Required expertise includes complete knowledge of water filtration plant operations (specifically ultraviolet, ozonation, and iron/manganese removal), SCADA systems, Microsoft Windows, and managing D.E.P. sample schedules and reporting (chemical and pumping records).
The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (subject to amendment), but the role requires working scheduled weekends, holidays, and responding to after-hours callouts.
This union position offers $31.89 to $33.47 per hour (Wage Grade 24), plus an annual stipend of $1,000 per relevant license/certification held (up to four, maximum $4,000).

The selected candidate must pass a drug screening and C.O.R.I. check before hiring and will complete a three-month trial period.
