Job Description

Performs a variety of technical duties in support of the city’s code enforcement program;
monitors and enforces a variety of State codes and regulations and municipal ordinances
related to building, housing, health and safety, property maintenance, and other matters of
public concern; investigates potential violations and initiates procedures to obtain
compliance; serves as a resource and provides information on city regulations to property
owners, residents, businesses, the general public, and city staff and officials. The Code
Enforcement Inspector works under the direction of the Director of Inspectional Services and the day-to-day supervision of the Code Enforcement Manager.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma and three to five years’ experience in code enforcement or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Specialized training and/or college level coursework in law enforcement, safety inspections, food service management, or related field is a plus.
Additional Requirements
• Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
• National Center for Housing Management Certification – Certified Occupancy Specialist
within one year of start date.
• ServeSafe certification within 6 months of the date of hire.
• Massachusetts Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.
