The town of West Newbury seeks qualified applicants for the position Council on Aging (COA) Director. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position responsible for directing and overseeing the programs and operations of the Council on Aging. Responsibilities include outreach and communications, website content management, newsletter production, and maintaining mail/email distribution lists. The COA Director also supports the administration of additional human services and programs serving non-senior residents. Occasional evening meetings are required.
Candidates should have a working knowledge of state and local laws/regulations related to elder services, a strong understanding of elder needs and available resources, and the ability to advocate effectively for older adults in a variety of situations. Experience researching funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and securing and managing grants from multiple sources is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree in gerontology, social work, or a related field, along with three to five years of relevant experience, is required; an equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience will be considered. Municipal experience and familiarity working with boards are preferred. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, be eligible for bonding, and be willing to obtain ServSafe and CPR/AED certifications.
Annual compensation (FY26): $76,412-$92,800 DOQ.
