The town of Northborough Assessor’s Office seeks applicants for a full-time Data Collector/Field Assessor position. Under the direction of the Principal Assessor, this position is responsible for field data verification and review of residential and commercial property, field review of all “New Growth” parcels in the Town, as well as conducting the state mandated cyclical re-inspection program.
Successful candidates will be highly organized and have experience in the field of assessing. Position requires knowledge of MA laws related to municipal finance and property assessment for tax purposes. The position is responsible for the following duties: collects residential and commercial/industrial real estate measures and lists, follows approved appraisal and assessing techniques; maintains related photographs and files; conducts inspections on “new growth” properties both residential and commercial and enter data into CAMA (assessing database) system; works directly with business owners and tenants of commercial/industrial properties for rental information; surveys and compiles income and expense data from commercial property owners and creates related reports; and performs data processing procedures dealing with the computerization of valuation techniques. Experience with Patriot AP5 CAMA system preferred.
Requires a bachelor’s degree and one to three years’ experience as an appraiser or similar, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must complete Massachusetts DLS Course 101 within six months of hire. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor Designation and/or Residential Massachusetts Assessor and/or International Association of Assessing Officers designation required within three years from date of hire. Requires a valid Massachusetts Class D License.
The salary range for this Grade 4 position is $33.01 – $42.90 per hour. The anticipated starting salary is expected to be low to mid-range DOQ, with comprehensive benefits.
