The town of Swampscott seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Aging Services to lead the Council on Aging and Senior Center. Reporting to the Town Administrator, the Director serves as the chief administrator of programs, services, and operations that support residents age 60 and older. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budget and grant management, staff supervision, program development, community outreach, and advancing the town’s age- and dementia-friendly initiatives.
The Director collaborates closely with the Council on Aging Board, municipal departments, healthcare providers, community organizations, and regional partners to ensure services remain responsive to the evolving needs of older adults. The position oversees recreation, wellness, transportation, outreach, volunteer, nutrition, and social service programs while promoting healthy aging, independence, and community engagement.
Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in aging services, human services, public administration, or a similar setting, including supervisory experience. Strong leadership, communication, budget management, and community partnership skills are required. Municipal or nonprofit experience and a commitment to serving older adults are highly desirable.
Salary: $80,000–$90,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
