Job Description

Reporting to the Town Administrator, this executive-level position provides strategic leadership and hands-on administration of the town’s human resources and administrative services functions.

The Director leads workforce planning, recruitment and retention, labor and employee relations, collective bargaining, compensation, risk management, workplace investigations, policy development, and compliance with employment laws. The position also oversees procurement, public records, contract and grant administration, organizational improvement initiatives, communications support, and special projects, while serving as the town’s ADA Coordinator and providing professional support to the Personnel Board.

As a key member of the town’s leadership team, the Director partners with the Town Administrator, Select Board, department heads, and employees to strengthen municipal operations, advance strategic initiatives, and deliver responsive, high-quality public service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, human resources, business administration, organizational leadership, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, municipal administration, or a related management field, preferably in local government.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and participating in collective bargaining strongly preferred.
  • MCPPO certification required within three years of appointment.

Starting salary range: $115,884 – $131,544 commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive municipal benefits package.
