DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
$127,362.56 – $171,186.60 PER YEAR
OVERVIEW:
Under the general administrative direction, serve as the principal administrative officer for the Public Works Department; plan, direct, review, and manage department activities and operations focused on providing a wide range of public service activities. Has responsibility for managing a wide range of public service activities including capital planning, roadways, facilities, fleet maintenance, water treatment, water distribution and wastewater management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, manage, lead and direct the overall operations, maintenance and repair of municipal services including, but not limited to, roadways, landscape, facilities, engineering, and fleet maintenance.
- Oversee Public Works functions including inspections, water quality and waste management reporting, Capital Improvement Project Programs, and Emergency Management.
- Select, assign, train, direct, and evaluate subordinate staff; assure training and guidance for staff involved in various aspects of public works and related services; oversee and implement disciplinary actions.
- Participate as a member of the town’s Executive team; provide assistance to the Town Manager and Town Council on capital improvement projects and public works matters.
- Oversee project management for public works construction projects; oversee assigned projects to ensure contractor compliance with project parameters.
