Job Description

The city of Lawrence seeks an Energy Advocate to support energy affordability and promote healthy homes for residents and small businesses. This grant-funded, non-union position focuses on helping the community reduce utility costs and improve indoor comfort by connecting residents and businesses with local, state, and federal energy efficiency programs, including Mass Save.

The Energy Advocate will conduct community outreach, with a focus on renters, landlords, small businesses, and non-English-speaking households. Responsibilities include hosting information sessions, attending community events, promoting available programs through media and outreach materials, and guiding residents and business owners through enrollment in energy efficiency services. The position will also build partnerships with local nonprofits, schools, faith organizations, tenant and landlord groups, and business associations to expand program participation.

Additional duties include tracking outreach activities and referrals, assisting customers through the process, coordinating volunteers or interns, and participating in statewide training and collaboration through the Community First Partnership.

This full-time position reports to the Director of Community Development and requires strong communication and community engagement skills. Fluency in Spanish and English is required.

Salary is up to $85,500 annually. This temporary position runs through March 14, 2028 and is contingent upon continued grant funding.
