Job Description

The town of Carver is seeking an experienced and professional municipal finance leader to serve as its next Finance Director. The Town of Carver (pop. 11,645), has a $54 million budget and a S&P AA bond rating. Candidates should have exceptional financial acumen and strong leadership ability. Reporting to the Town Administrator, the Finance Director also serves as the Town Accountant. Responsibilities include maintaining a complete set of accounting records including appropriations, expenditures, receipts, assessments, levies and abatements. This position oversees Accounting, Treasurer/Tax Collector and Assessing.

 

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, a minimum of five years of responsible related experience in accounting or financial management. Experience in municipal accounting preferred. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal accounting, applicable provisions of the Mass. General Laws and municipal finance software. Salary range is $130,000 – $150,000 depending on qualifications.

 

This is a 35-hour per week in-person position. Town Hall hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesdays 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m.-noon. The Finance Director is required to attend occasional Select Board, Finance Committee and Capital Outlay meetings as well as sub-committee meetings and town meetings.
